April 30, 2015 - Brock Pierce, founder of Coin Congress and Chairman of the Bitcoin Foundation, will be live on deBitcoin’s Google Hangout today at 3:00 p.m. ET. Brock will field questions from the Bitcoin community about the Foundation’s future. Pierce hopes suggestions from the ecosystem will help him shape the organization’s priorities into 2015.
As reported by CoinDesk, Pierce was elected to the position by a 3-0 vote this month, with board member Olivier Janssens abstaining. The 34-year-old was nominated by board member and BTC China CEO Bobby Lee, with whom Pierce was elected to the foundation in May of 2014.
Since his appointment, Pierce has encouraged the community to provide feedback for how the organization should proceed. In his April 22nd statement on the Bitcoin Foundation public message board, Pierce wrote, “I wish to thank the industry members that elected me to the Bitcoin Foundation board as well as my fellow board members for their vote of confidence in nominating and electing me to this position. I look forward to working with our newly appointed executive director, Bruce Fenton, the board, as well as the membership to put the past behind us and work toward fulfilling the organizations potential. I encourage all of the membership to reach out to me if you have questions or concerns.”
This public Hangout with live Q/A one of many early steps Pierce will undertake to promote community-driven feedback and transparency.
